Warren County Regional Jail (WCRJ) will welcome a full-time Peer Support Specialist to its Re-entry Services Division beginning in October. Kentucky’s leading treatment provider Addiction Recovery Care (ARC) and WCRJ will collaborate to offer this unique resource to inmates.
WNKY reports, the Peer Support Specialist, employed by ARC, will work directly with incarcerated individuals battling addiction, offering peer-led support in small group settings. In addition to fostering recovery, the specialist will help inmates navigate potential treatment programs with ARC and other facilities, paving the way for continued care post-release.
“This position has the potential to offer tremendous support to our incarcerated population and
contribute positively to the community,” said Warren County Jailer Stephen Harmon. “We look forward to seeing the impact of this new role in preparing individuals for a successful return to society.”
The mission of WCRJ’s Re-entry Services Division is to help offenders successfully reintegrate into the community, reduce recidivism rates and improve public safety through addressing the spiritual, educational, employment, healthcare, housing, identification and family relationship needs of the offender — as well as introducing them to important resources and evidence-based treatment programs prior to being released to the community.
Addiction Recovery Care is a leading provider of addiction treatment in Kentucky. The organization, headquartered in Louisa, Kentucky, operates a network of over 30 licensed addiction treatment centers in 25 Kentucky counties.
